Auditions for ‘Silhouette’

Auditions for acting roles in “Silhouette” are to be held at 10.30am on Saturday 23rd May at The Old Chapel Community Centre, Cross Houses, Shrewsbury, SY5 6JH (turn off the A458 by the Zebra Crossing).

We are looking for a flexible ensemble of 8 or 9 actors with good acting experience who can move well, sing solos and perhaps play an instrument. There are no ‘minor’ parts and the playing age is 16 to 50. You must be over 16 years of age by the end of October.

You may prepare an audition piece or use a text supplied by us. You should also be prepared to sing unaccompanied at the audition and take part in a movement exercise. As you will understand from the theme of the play you must be prepared to appear on stage in underwear/swim suit.

Please note that we are restricted to 25 people per session, which will take around 90 minutes.

You do not have to audition to be considered. If you feel the producers (Maggie Love and Chris Eldon Lee) already have sufficient knowledge of your abilities please just register your interest and contact details.

The timetable is as follows:

Rehearsals begin 14th June and continue at Cross Houses every Sunday at 2.30 and Wednesday at 7.30. There will be a break in high summer.

The first three weeks of November are crucial with daily commitment from Wed 11th  to Saturday 21st. You will need to be in Market Drayton for the first four evenings and then in Shrewsbury from the 16th to 21st.

Performances are 13th and 14th November at 8pm (with a possible Saturday matinee at 4pm) Then 16th to 21st November in the studio at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn at 8pm. There is a 2.30 matinee on the 21st. The performance on 16th November is an open tech/dress for friends and family.

This is an exciting and demanding project involving devised and scripted work. But it will be fun.

AUDITIONS FOR THE CHOIR AND MUSICIANS

If you wish to join the Mere Singers please ring choir master Mary Keith on 01948 710 586. Choir rehearsals start in early September in Shrewsbury on Monday nights.

If you are an experienced musician, play an appropriate instrument, are used to   performing in front of a live audience and would like to be in ‘The Old Sew and Sews’ Sixties band please call or text Nigel Hinton on 07866 522781 before 30th April 2009.

You do not have to audition if you are an established amateur musician known to the project management team but you must be committed to the project because of regular rehearsal time from June and the three-week rehearsal and run in November.
 
The band will rehearse about 12-15 pieces from June and then will work with the choir from September and then the Company with increasing frequency until final dress rehearsals in November when a daily commitment will be required.
